More and more local building codes require hotels to set back thermostats and turn off lights and AC outlets whenever a guestroom is empty.

A third party thermostat is required with Code-Smart, yet with most Code-Smart compatible thermostats, there’s only one level of setback, so there’s a tradeoff between guest comfort and energy savings.
